Practices

Practice guidelines.

The standards every NeWell practice is written and reviewed against.

Scripture and theological standards

  • Use Scripture in context; keep a source list with translation, passage, and theme for each session.
  • Distinguish biblical teaching from facilitator reflection, metaphor, or optional imagination.
  • Confession and repentance are available when warranted, not presumed in every difficult emotion.
  • Do not promise that breathwork removes sin, that calmness proves faith, or that distress signals spiritual failure.
  • Do not equate guided imagery with direct revelation; participants may test impressions through Scripture and wise counsel.
  • Honor church community and pastoral care; NeWell is not a substitute for discipleship or the ordinary means of Christian formation.
  • Avoid universal promises about healing, trauma release, sleep quality, hormone regulation, or nervous-system “rewiring.”

Safety, accessibility, and scope

NeWell is an educational and devotional wellness offering, not a treatment for anxiety disorders, trauma, depression, insomnia, or other medical conditions. It may be supportive alongside appropriate care. Include accessible alternatives and a clear opt-out in every session.

  • Breathing: never force deep or fast breathing; stop if lightheaded, tingling, panicked, or unwell; natural breathing is always acceptable.
  • Movement: adapt for injury, pain, pregnancy, mobility limitations, and other relevant conditions; seek individualized clinical advice when needed.
  • Guided rest: offer eyes-open options, seated alternatives, orientation to the room, and permission to skip body scans or imagery.
  • Mental health: avoid trauma processing, memory recovery, and diagnosis; refer to qualified clinicians when symptoms are severe or persistent.
  • Safeguarding: define facilitator response pathways for disclosures of abuse, self-harm risk, or unsafe relationships.
  • Research claims: have scientific explanations and participant-facing benefit claims reviewed before publication.

In every session

  • Natural breathing is always fine. We never ask you to force deep or fast breathing, or to hold your breath.
  • Stop if you feel lightheaded, tingly, panicked or unwell, and return to ordinary breathing.
  • Move within comfort. Seated, standing and floor options are offered; adapt for injury, pain, pregnancy or limited mobility.
  • Keep your eyes open, skip a body scan or imagery, or opt out of any part, anytime.

Our practices are Scripture-centered experiences that combine appropriate physical techniques with biblical reflection and prayer. They are not intended to replace Christian discipleship, medical care, or mental health treatment.

Women Led By Faith offers education and community, not counseling or medical care. If you’re working through trauma or a health concern, please seek a licensed professional.
